Workshop Description:

Inverse problem and system identification techniques play an important role in the characterization and modeling of the response of geosystems. These techniques are expected to have in the future an ever growing impact on the ways we monitor, model, analyze and design geosystems. The Inverse Problem Center at RPI (IPRPI, www.iprpi.rpi.edu) is organizing a two-day workshop to discuss recent developments and the role of Inverse Problems and System Identification of geosystems in advancing our understanding and modeling of geosystems.

There are a number of places to stay in the Troy/Albany/Schenectady area that are convenient to RPI.

Internet and breakfast are included in the room charge. The workshop will provide a shuttle from the Franklin Inn to the workshop location each morning at 8:15am. The workshop will provide a return shuttle from the workshop location to the Franklin Inn at 5:15pm on Monday, and at 3:15pm on Tuesday. This shuttle will be operated by Northeast Shuttle. The drop off and pick up point on the RPI campus for this shuttle is shown on the attached campus map.

In addition, Rensselaer has a Redhawk shuttle service. The nearest shuttle stop to the Franklin Inn is the Blitman Residence Commons which is located on 6th Ave near the corner of Broadway. The shuttle map including the location of the Blitman Residence Commons and the shuttle route can be found at:

The attached campus map shows the nearest stop of the RPI Redhawk shuttle to the workshop location together with the most direct walking path (marked with red arrows) from the nearest stop to the workshop location.

Internet is included with this room charge. Shuttle services will be provided to RPI by the Hilton each morning at 8:30 AM, and late Monday afternoon at 5:15 PM from RPI back to the Hilton. The Hilton will also provide transportation from the airport to the hotel, and back. Please contact the Hilton to make those arrangements.

To direct the Hilton shuttle to the nearest location to the workshop please review the attached campus map.

Speaker/Participant Reimbursement:

To apply in advance for travel reimbursement, please fill out the provided application for travel reimbursement.

After travel is completed and we have received your application for travel reimbursement, we will notify you of your funding award. At that time you will receive a travel reimbursement form for you to sign and return with your original receipts.
