Background:
During the inaugural year for the newly
established IPRPI center, we host Interdisciplinary Inverse Problems:
Opening Conference for IPRPI during April 5-7. The topics covered
in this conference reflect the active research areas of center participants
including: geophysical imaging, biomedical imaging, radar imaging,
time reversal problems, earthquake dynamics inverse problems, ocean
acoustics inverse problems, and photonics. We expect over 100 participants
including 11 plenary and keynote speakers and several minisymposia.

When you request a room you should mention:
"RPI Interdisciplinary Inverse Problems Conference." For
the Franklin Square Inn the rooms will be held until March 24; the
Hampton Inn until March 28, and the Century House until March 8.
Franklin Square Inn is within walking distance.
Both the Hampton Inn and the Century House are a 10-15 minute drive
from Rensselaer. We will provide transportation to and from those
locations each morning and evening.

We request that you register in advance so
that we will have an idea of how many we need to accommodate. We
will plan that each participant will attend the entire conference.
If this is not the case, please indicate this on the form to aid
us in meal planning.
Preregistration fee is $50.00 for regular
participants with a $20.00 fee for graduate students. On-site registration
fee is $70.00 for regular participants with a $35.00 fee for graduate
students. The registration form will be available March 5, 2004.
A/V Equipment:
The workshop will provide
a computer projector and an overhead projector. If additional equipment
is needed, please contact Alice Petralia, mclauj3@rpi.edu.
Format:
Each of the three days there will be
three plenary lectures in the morning and in the afternoon concurrent
minisymposia containing six 30-minute talks each. Continental breakfast
and lunch will be provided each of the three days as well as dinner
on Monday and Tuesday evenings. The goal is to have talks on current
research from active programs and to provide ample time for discussion
and interaction among participants.
